Canadair CT-33 Silver Star
1957 Canadair CT-33 AN Mk. 3, Serial No. 590, RCAF Serial No. 21590, Registration No. N590RC, Reno Air Races "Specline Special", Race No. 51.
Manufactured by Canadair Ltd. in 1957 for the Royal Canadian Air Force where it served as an instrument training platform. In November of 2004, the FAA issued N590RC it's Airworthiness Certificate to original owner Specline, Inc. of Carson City, NV. N590RC was raced at the Reno Air Races in 2007, as the Specline Special with Race No. 51, qualifying 1st for the Gold Race, it finished the race in 3rd place. After 2007, the T-33's were banned from racing due to the strength of the wake turbulence they created, caused by the heavier weight of the aircraft vs. the competition. in February, 2022, SFVWPS purchased N590RC, the aircraft had been stripped of it's race livery and in bare metal so we decided to have it polished and painted in USAF livery, naming it "Afternoon Delight" with it's corresponding Nose Art. The polishing and painting of the aircraft was finished in April 0f 2022. To finish the restoration and fly safely, the last part of the project will be to install modern avionics and check that the oxygen system is working properly.
